Finding Inspiration in the Unlikeliest of Places

Design inspiration can come from anywhere -- the rich colors of fall invoke a warm palette of ochre, rust, and reds; the floral patterns of nature inspire intricate feminine lines; and the spotted fur of exotic animals inspire bold printed fabrics. Inspiration for western show clothing also often comes from the world of fashion, with fashion trends making their way into the ring.
How about finding inspiration in your favorite rock star?
This week we had the pleasure of creating a one-of-a-kind jacket for one of our favorite clients. Her request? A silver and black show-stopper with tons of sparkle and red arm bands...à la Nikki Sixx of Mötley Crüe.
Here's what we came up with:
The contrast of the silver and black against the bright red of the armbands and collar detail are absolute edgy perfection. This might be the coolest jacket we've ever created. And who would've thought Nikki Sixx would ever enter our creative minds? We sure didn't. It's just another reminder to think outside the box, look at the world around you, and pull inspiration from anything that piques your interest -- you never know where it will lead you.
